Blood and Sun (New York) and Society of the Silver Cross (Seattle) bring their music to Europe this fall, with Swedish artist Linnea Hjertén opening every date. They’re touring behind Aion’s Light, the new Blood and Sun record, and Unraveled, new music from the collaboration between Blood and Sun and Society of the Silver Cross. Unraveled is the second volume of Temple Hymns, Society of the Silver Cross’s ongoing series of collaborations at their gothic Seattle studio, Temple of the Trees. Joe produced King Dude’s 2018 record Music to Make War To, and Luke and T.J. Cowgill share a long history of their own. When their mutual friend Egan of Headstone Brigade brought Luke and Society of the Silver Cross together over dinner, it felt less like an introduction and more like a reunion. Blood and Sun The dark folk of Luke Tromiczak, played by a rotating group of musicians from around the country. Luke is a serious singer, a baritone with a low end you feel in the floor. The band formed in 2011 and has built an international following on brooding, gothic songwriting. It isn’t political and carries no hateful rhetoric. The tour brings their third album, Aion’s Light, recorded entirely on the same Tascam 414 cassette four-track the band used for its first demo.
